What led me to become a therapist...
When I was a child, my mother taught me a poem called “Children Learn What They Live.” It had a big influence on me – so much so that I knew at age 15 that I wanted to work with kids.
When I was a junior in college, the unimaginable happened, as I lost my teenaged brother. That tragedy affected me profoundly, igniting a passion for turning life’s lemons into lemonade.
I had a mission: to help people who are suffering but don’t know how to change it.
Welcome, I’m Maegan Kenney, transpersonal psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Board-Certified Coach. I work exclusively with therapists, healers, and other space-holders, people who are trained to attune, contain, and care for others, but who feel burned out and disconnected from their own inner life.
I offer two distinct therapeutic paths designed to meet different clinical needs. My depth-oriented Jungian and transpersonal psychotherapy is a longer-term, relational approach for clients navigating profound inner terrain, including spiritual awakenings/ego deaths, identity shifts, non-ordinary states, psychedelic or ketamine experiences, near-death experiences, dreams, unconscious archetypal material, and countertransference. This work emphasizes integration and meaning-making, helping clients engage symbolic material from the psyche. My approach is rooted in heart consciousness and psychological containment.
I also offer the Compassionate Integration Method (CIM), a structured, ART- and EMDR-informed short-term trauma therapy model I developed through years of clinical practice and research. CIM is designed for focused trauma resolution and fast symptom relief, and is used to treat trauma and PTSD, shame-based memories, panic and anxiety disorders, codependency, burnout, OCD, depression, chronic pain, and other intense or persistent emotional states. This present-focused, goal-oriented approach emphasizes nervous system regulation, memory reconsolidation, and psychological stabilization, typically occurring over a brief series of sessions with clear structure and defined endpoints.
I also offer trauma-informed age-regression hypnotherapy, integrating inner-child work with emotional and somatic reprocessing. Across all modalities, my work is trauma-informed, somatically grounded, and ethically contained, with careful attention to psychological safety, pacing, and collaboration.
I believe my job as a therapist is to help tap into your most authentic self, and walk alongside you with whatever struggles there may be. My approach to therapy is direct, with the use of humor, analogies, and metaphors; I try to bring every thing together to help make sense in a world that can be confusing. Together we can tackle whatever difficult situation may be occurring in your life and get to the other side.
