I am a 30 year veteran Clinical Social Worker. I have a BA in psychology and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. My areas of specialty are individual therapy in stress management, grief, depression, PTSD, anxiety, chronic illness, children and adults
As a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey, I offer remote individual psychotherapy to adults. My approach is collaborative, and you are an active partner in designing your personal goals. I individualize treatment based on your presenting concerns/needs as well as your unique background and history. Based on my training and experience in a variety of treatment modalities, including CBT, DBT, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, I use an integrative approach to help you reach your personal goals, which may involve learning skills to manage life’s difficulties and developing greater understanding of yourself.
I have more than 15 years of experience working in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals and schools. As a trained pianist and a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, I also incorporate creative expression in my practice, and my speciality includes issues related to cultural diversity (e.g., LGBTQIA+, Asian American mental health, immigration). As a native of Japan, I am bilingual in Japanese and English, and offer services in both languages.
Katherine Wheeler is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and TBRI® Practitioner dedicated to helping children, families, and caregivers heal, connect, and grow. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of New England and brings a compassionate, neuroscience-informed approach to her work with clients.
Rooted in the belief that every individual is a treasure, Katherine approaches each person and family with curiosity, respect, and care. Her work centers on the idea that connection creates change — helping clients understand how trauma, stress, and relationship patterns shape their stories, and guiding them toward safety, trust, and regulation.
Her style is relational, grounded, and intentional, blending evidence-based interventions with genuine warmth and presence. At Connected Treasures, Katherine partners with families to interrupt cycles of intergenerational trauma, strengthen attachment, and create spaces where both children and adults can thrive.
