I’m Dr. Stephanie Smigiel, PhD, LPC, the founder of Smigiel Counseling, and I’ve worked in the behavioral health field since 2013 supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families. My practice is grounded in a neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach, shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals and trauma across the lifespan, from early childhood through adulthood, and tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs, goals, and strengths.
I believe every client holds the power to heal, even when if feels out of reach. With a background in ADHD, trauma recovery, domestic violence, and women's issues, I work alongside women and children to uncover their strength and build a new path forward. Clients can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where their journey is respected and supported. Healing is possible, and you don't have to walk through it alone.
I’m easygoing, down-to-earth, and supportive. I listen first, and I help you make sense of what you’re going through without judgment. Before becoming a therapist, I worked for years in healthcare and hospice, supporting people through their hardest moments.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist specializing in maternal mental health. Perhaps you had your first baby and find yourself overwhelmed with the transition of taking care of a newborn. Or maybe you are a mom of 3 and find yourself feeling depressed and anxious. From my clinical experience spanning over a decade, as well as my personal experience as a mom, I can help you gain tools to manage your emotions and get stronger as a mom.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in PA. I have worked in the field for seven years and have been trained in various therapeutic modalities, including TF-CBT, CBT, ERP, BFRB, ACT, Motivational interviewing, CPT, and PE. I specialize in trauma and anxiety disorders.
I unexpectedly began the journey to become a therapist when I accepted a job as a client coordinator at a non-profit organization that worked exclusively with childhood sexual abuse survivors. I quickly fell in love with the clients and supportive staff and decided to return to school to earn my master's degree in clinical social work. I was a single mom and 40 years old when this new adventure began. It was the best decision of my life. I am humbled to support my clients as they share their most vulnerable selves. Watching positive change happen in their lives as we work together is an immeasurable gift.
I'm a Temple University and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine graduate.
