Prioritizing your mental health is the foundation for a stable, fulfilling life. I know that the first step—reaching out for help—is often the hardest, so I want to acknowledge your courage in being here. I bring 30 years of experience as a board-certified psychiatrist to our work together.
Sylvester Ojeah has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas for more than 23 years, working in the mental health field in both public and private sectors for three decades. He has worked with anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, anger management and substance abuse.
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner that is interested in providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health care services through psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. I come from a strong nursing background, with over 10 years of experience working with clients experiencing changes to their mental and physical health in both outpatient and inpatient settings. My educational background includes a Master of Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston, Cizik School of Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Texas Tech University Health Science Center.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive experience supporting adolescents, adults, and older adults through life’s most challenging transitions. My background spans mental health therapy, crisis intervention, trauma recovery, child welfare, and geriatric care, which allows me to work with clients from a holistic, compassionate, and well-rounded perspective.
I use a strength-based, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach, meeting each client where they are and honoring their unique experiences. My clinical work integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed skills, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. I work collaboratively with clients to set meaningful goals, build coping skills, and create sustainable change.
I have experience helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, emotional regulation, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I also bring a strong background in crisis support and safety planning, ensuring clients feel supported, grounded, and safe throughout the therapeutic process.
Above all, I strive to provide a warm, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Therapy with me is collaborative and paced to your needs, with a focus on helping you reconnect with your strengths and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
I am here to bridge the connection between mental, physical, and social health. My therapeutic approach is warm, culturally responsive, and honors your unique story. I use strength-based methods to empower your wellness journey. In our sessions, your experiences are valued and your goals guide our work together.
As a Counselor, I bring both lived experience and professional insight to the therapeutic space.
I am deeply passionate about mental health and wellness. My passion lies in building strong family units, specializing in child and adolescent development, prenatal and postpartum care & support.
I hold a Master's in Counseling & Development with a specialization in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling from Lamar University.
