Katharine is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 8 years of experience in outpatient, school, and hospital settings. She specializes in helping emerging adults (18-29) and adults (30-65) navigate stress, anxiety, and major life transitions through compassionate, skills-focused therapy that builds resilience, clarity, and confidence—inside and outside of session.
I see care as a partnership built on honesty, respect, and presence. My background as a psychiatric nurse practitioner who has worked with people across the lifespan allows me to approach each person with empathy and steadiness. Clients often tell me they feel both seen and supported in our work together—I value authenticity and believe healing begins when we can show up as our full selves.
Compassion Counseling provides a nurturing haven for counseling, empowering individuals, couples and families to embark on transformative journeys towards well-being. As a therapist at Compassion counseling, I believe in our mission to walk with people along their process of healing with compassion, encouragement and accountability.I specialize in depression, anxiety, and trauma informed treatment with a strength based lens. My compassionate care approach in supporting individuals in their healing, is informed by the many years of influencing maternal child health on a systematic level.
For over a decade, I have worked with individuals struggling with a wide range of difficulties and acuity, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and personality disorders. I work particularly well with clients struggling with worry, anxiety, anger, and shame. I prioritize creating a warm, non-judgmental space where my clients can increase awareness of their emotional and relational patterns, including how difficulties relate to our larger context.
I could list all my accomplishments from the past 30 years, but that wouldn't give you a true sense of my style or beliefs. I strive to empathize, be respectful, and remain non judgemental. We all face worries, stresses, and challenges daily, and we all need someone who listens and understands. While family and friends can provide wonderful support, talking to someone with professional expertise and an outside perspective can be incredibly beneficial.
My background includes supporting individuals, couples, and families from a variety of backgrounds in navigating personal and life challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting skills, grief and loss, transitions, etc. Currently, I am only offering individual services.
I also have 10+ years of specialized experience in working with survivors of sexual violence and non-offending loved ones in understanding the impact of trauma and exploring their own healing journey.
